Fresh Water metallic luster pearls. When fresh water pearls from China first came on the market they were falsely marketed as 100% natural. This was able to be accomplished because there was no bead nucleus like salt water cultured pearls. When gemologists did thier x ray studies the pearls did in fact look like 100% natural pearls. These pearls are 100% pearl nacre without the bead inside. Not only that they last longer than salt water pearls as sometimes the nacre coating on salt water pearls will chip.

This photo was taken in natural light. The largest pearl strand is 13-15mm in size. You can see how metallic the colored pearls are. None of the pearls available for sale on this Web Site are dyed or treated in any way. All are 100% natural as they come out of the oyster. They are only washed and lightly tumbled to clean the surface.
These are the purple color pearls that are harvested from the many lakes and rivers in China. It all started in Japan, a place called Lake Biwa but unfortunately the mollusks do destroy the ecosystem by polluting the water they are cultivated in. After many years the pearl quality goes down and the price goes up as the waters get more polluted. Pearls are the best bargain in the market today with gold and diamonds being so expensive.
Here's a photo showing purple golden and white pearls together. This photo was taken in natural sunlight as well. It gives you an idea of the different naturrally occuring colors available today in the Fresh Water pearl market. I have direct links to some pearl farms in China and have them hand pick my pearl strands lloking always for the best possible metallic luster.
Pearls usually have overtones in pink blue and green. In the photo above you can see some of these overtones. Although this strand looks silver it is actually light purple. It is because of the high degree of luster that makes it look morte silvery. Some of these pearls on this strand have a pinnkish overtone while others have a greenish overtone. |
