Rough Opal at unbeliveable prices

Here's another one of my favorites. I call this piece the koala. It needs to be carved into a koala bear. It's from White Dam Andamooka and its beautiful crystal opal. It weights 28.6 carats and when finished as I think it should be done, it will weigh more than 20 carats. This is the rarely seen material that goes for big $$$ when finished. Not much opal around Andamooka these days. Here's one of the last chances for something like this. $500/gram 5.72 grams. Price $2860.

These two top pic's were taken outside in natural light, and the bottom left was a dim light taken from above. This is very nice crystal opal from Andamooka where the crystal is estra har and never cracks later. This opal has lasted millions of years and will certinally last for a few million more. Never worry about Andamooka opal.
